Nausea after eating can be caused by gastrointestinal problems such as gallstones, stomach ulcers, gastritis, functional dyspepsia (indigestion), gastroparesis (slow stomach emptying), or, rarely, stomach cancer.
Nausea after meals is also common in anxiety disorders, such as generalized anxiety and phobias. However, before these causes are considered, a detailed evaluation is usually done to rule out other health problems.
If you frequently experience nausea after eating and/or have other associated symptoms, it is recommended to see a gastroenterologist or a primary care provider to check whether there is a health problem that needs treatment.
