Discharge after sex is normal, especially after unprotected vaginal sex. Many women notice semen leaking from the vagina after intercourse, and in some cases, this discharge may continue for up to a day or longer.
Semen can remain in the vagina for 12 to 36 hours after sex. Semen leakage is different from vaginal discharge caused by an infection. For most people, it lasts only a few hours and does not come with other symptoms.
However, it is important to see a healthcare provider for an evaluation if you have discharge after sex that is an unusual color or is accompanied by a bad smell, itching, pain during sex, pelvic pain, or discomfort when urinating (dysuria)
