Medication for leg pain

There are some remedies that can be used to improve leg pain and strengthen the wall of your blood vessels. However, they should only be used under medical guidance as they may vary according to the problem that is causing the discomfort. Some examples are:

  • Anti-inflammatory drugs, such as Diclofenac, Ibuprofen and Aceclofenac, which may decrease leg inflammation;
  • Painkillers, such as Paracetamol or Dipyrone, which can reduce pain;
  • Muscle relaxants, like Skelaxin and Amrix, can help to relax muscles and improve blood circulation.

Before using any type of pain relieving medication, you can try home remedies as they can not only reduce the dose of medication needed, but also prevent it from being taken.

Home treatment options

Natural treatments for leg pain can be done in several ways depending on the source of the pain:

1. Muscle fatigue

Muscle problems usually appear due to excessive exertion by the muscles involved, such as lifting a lot of weight in the gym or walking for a long time, for example.

In these cases, it is recommended you have a massage in the region, keep your legs rested and apply a bag of hot water to the muscles. A good remedy that may help prevent muscle aches in the legs is to drink about 2 liters of water a day as hydration may improves muscle endurance.

2. Varicose veins and poor circulation

Circulatory problems generate symptoms such as swollen, red, hot and sore legs, especially at the end of the day. To end this discomfort you should wear compression socks during the day and massage from the feet to the thigh at the end of the day.

To avoid this problem, you should not sit or stand for long, making regular walks during the day without making exaggerated efforts.

3. Joint problems

Pain caused by joint problems usually arises when the knee or ankle moves its position.

In these cases, a good treatment consists of taking anti-inflammatory teas, such as chamomile or leather hat, which can provide important minerals. To help decrease inflammation, you can also use an ice pack on the joint within the first 24 hours, and then a hot pack. The patch should be kept for at least 5 to 10 minutes, 2 times a day.

4. Changes to the spine

When leg pain arises due to changes in the spine, such as herniated disc, it is important to do physiotherapy associated with techniques of postural reeducation, which can help lift objects without causing spinal injuries, for example.

However, to relieve the pain at home you should rest, preferably lying on a smooth and hard surface and do a gentle massage in the spine region using hot oils.
