A girl's ideal weight varies with age and should be checked monthly by a pediatrician during the first year of life, because being very under or over weight may impair the normal development and growth of your child.
The ideal weight of a girl is not reduced to a single value, varying between two acceptable values and is influenced by their daily diet, physical activity and genes.
Generally, weight gain in the first 12 months is faster and then it is normal for weight gain to increase more slowly because the child becomes more active, starting to walk and burning more calories, which slows the rate of weight gain.
However, girl's do not develop all at the same rhythm and so a girl in a certain age may not gain as much weight as another girl of the same age, for example. Therefore, it is important to analyze each case and not do comparisons between girls.
Girl's Weight-for-Age Chart
The table below shows the weight values appropriate for the girl's age according to the World Health Organization. However, if the girl does not have the weight indicated in the table for her age it does not mean that she isn't healthy.

Girl's Weight Percentile Curves
The most important thing to remember when analyzing weight gain is if the girl is gaining weight regularly, because not gaining weight, as well as increasing or decreasing weight suddenly, may be related to a health problem, such as diabetes or hyperthyroidism, for example.
Generally, a girl's percentile weight-for-age curves are used by the pediatrician to check the progress of weight as she grows, and more importantly, if she maintains her weight by always following the same percentile curve.
It is also important that there is a balanced development not only in weight but also between the height and perimeter of her head.
Use the following calculator to find out the ideal weight for a girl, from the age of 2 years:
Caution: You should not use the calculator above to see your child's ideal weight before the age of 2 and so it is more appropriate to follow the pediatrician's instructions and information in the baby's notebook.
In addition, to find out the ideal weight of a girl after the age of 5, other charts or percentile curves should be consulted because besides the age, a girl's height will also influence her ideal weight.
