Home remedies to treat burns

An excellent home remedy for skin burns caused by the sun or by contact with water or oil is banana peel, as it relieves pain and prevents the formation of blisters and is excellent for 2nd degree burns. But other good choices are aleo vera and lettuce leaves, for example.

1. Banana peel

  • 1 banana peel

Preparation method

Place the inside of the banana peel over the burn and then cover with a sterile gauze. Replace the peel after 2 hours if necessary. Repeat the procedure several times a day.
 

2. Aleo vera gel

Aleo vera poultice is an excellent natural remedy for burns because this plant has, inside its leaves, a gel that is moisturizing and soothing to the skin, helping in healing and reducing the pain of a burn.

Ingredient

  • 1 aleo vera leaf

Preparation method

Remove the thorns and cut the leaf in half lengthwise. Then scrape the gel, which is inside the leaf, and place it on a sterile patch or gauze, covering the skin. This poultice should be changed at least 2 times a day.

3. Lettuce poultice

Another good home remedy for burns is lettuce poultice, especially in cases of sunburn, as this is a vegetable with properties that help rejuvenate the skin and relieve burn symptoms due to its analgesic action.

Ingredients

  • 3 lettuce leaves
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil

Preparation method

Macerate the lettuce leaves with olive oil and then place the mixture in a sterile gauze and apply on the burn area. The poultice should be changed twice a day.

These home remedies are indicated to treat small and light burns because the most severe burns require medical or nursing care. The benefits of curcumin, the main ingredient of saffron in the burn, are being studied, and excellent results have been found, but curcumin based ointment is not yet ready to be marketed.
